Secrets of the Heart Spread

Secrets of the Heart

Secrets of the Heart is one of those rare spreads that can be used with a number of decks, and surprisingly works beautifully with Lenormand cards. While there are some odd numbers to the spread, you will find that the angle of these cards helps to read the spread in groups of two and three.

The cards are laid out from top to bottom, left to right. The rows represent the following:

Top row - What the relationship looks like on the surface
Second row - What is under the surface, or the truth in the relationship
Third row - What will happen
Bottom card - Outcome

While the spread appears to have assigned a meaning to a single card, you can see from the two cards above that all three still work together to give an overall meaning as you normally would in a Lenormand spread. The two cards on the third row are representative of a cause, while the single card at the bottom acts as your center action card as in a simple 3-card spread.

The top row and second row can be read in the same way, but I will generally start reading pairs from the top row before reading the second as you would a simple spread. After reviewing these two aspects, then you can apply this interpretation to how these top two rows interact together. It becomes a complete picture of not just what is hiding, but why.

Once you have seen all the connections and how the cards work together, a story will start to flow from top to bottom. You’ll be able to see how the relationship appears, but what’s hiding when nobody's looking, or even truths about your own relationships you were unaware of. The last three cards give a bit of a road map to see where it might be headed or to prepare you for the outcome. While the future isn’t set in stone, the cards generally give you an immediate future based on current situations and recent actions that can’t be changed.

This can be a very eye opening spread, although a bit complex. You should be well versed in simple question spreads before attempting this one. 3x3 Past, Present, Future is another great spread to practice with multiple card combinations.
