Please Note: This spread can widely vary between psychics and more specifically between decks. Since this is the most complicated Lenormand spread, it is highly suggested you use a standard 36-card deck. If you are using an extended deck, please check the associated booklet for instructions on this particular spread.
The following method is based on where the male or female subject card lands. The distance of the future it predicts is dependent on where the subject card lies. The farther left this card lands, the more into the future the spread predicts. The spread is as follows:

Cards to the left of the subject card represent the past. Cards to the right of the subject card represent the future.
On rare occasions, the subject will fall to the far right of the spread. Insight can still be gained from the context of the cards above and below, as well as the past that has led up to this shortened reading. It may mean there are no meaningful or significant changes to the subject’s life.
Cards should be read in pairs as you normally would read Lenormand, but you can also use knighting to pair these cards and gain more insight to the context. For example, 4 can be paired with 19. Think of an L shape, or the move of the knight in chess. Diagonally can also help to gain insight, similar to a straight line.
Take note which row the subject card lands on, as this can help to understand what is in control versus out of control. Cards above the subject are out of control, whereas what is under control will fall under.
The top cards are what is prominent or dominating the subject’s life, while the bottom two cards are what is moving under the surface, or underlying causes. The placement and meaning of these particular four cards can vary between card readers, however, this is a method I personally have used for 30 years. If you have learned a different method, please do stick with that. You'll note these are the last cards I lay out, and often will be seen at the bottom only. Personally I see the 2 and 2 work with Lenormand
There is another variation of this spread that applies "Houses" to the cards that I have never felt comfortable using. Using pairs and other basic methods from simple spreads has always provided me with enough information and context to provide a heavily detailed reading.
See below for simple spreads and other variations.
