Learning Lenormand by LadybugDawn

Welcome to the world of divination with Lenormand oracle cards!

Many are familiar with Tarot cards as form of divination, yet Lenormand isn’t quite as well known or popular.

My introduction to Lenormand stemmed from an old mid-20th century gypsy deck. Many cards and symbolism are the same or extremely similar, so it was only natural that I learn all I could about Lenormand. I created this fun little site to share my favorite spreads with the world, and hopefully help a few spiritualists along the way.

The Basics

I highly recommend familiarising yourself with the imagery & symbolism from your personal Lenormand deck. Most will come with their own booklets describing each card. You should also grab a book or two that expands on each card’s meaning. Many you can find for free, such as this one that I have had for a number of years: Lenormand Thirty Six Cards.

To read these cards, you not only need a solid understanding of each card individually, but also how they work together in combination. Before you do any layouts or spreads, you should have an understanding of the base meanings alone and in pairs. In our layout example, you will see how one card difference in a similar looking spread can change the entire meaning.

Because of the nature of Lenormand cards, you will find that some Tarot/Oracle card spreads will work and some will not. The following are a few spreads that I use often with my Lenormand cards:
